The services are free. You must be a student at an institution affiliated with SiO and have paid the semester fee. Our professionals offer advisory sessions and short-term therapy.

The service available both digitally and in person (please specify in your application if you prefer a video appointment rather than an in-person meeting).

Common themes include:

  • Study-related challenges – Study techniques, exam anxiety, presentation anxiety
  • Practical and financial issues
  • Mental health concerns – Low mood, overthinking, worry, anxiety, or distressing thoughts and feelings that make student life difficult
  • Relationship difficulties – Problems in relationships with others, challenges in romantic relationships, or other close relationships
  • Life burdens – Grief, illness, demanding life situations, or past difficult experiences that negatively impact your daily life
  • Stress-related issues – Sleep difficulties, tension, or physical pains and discomfort

What we can not help you with

  • Assessments (e.g., for ADHD, bipolar disorder, or autism spectrum disorders): Contact your general practitioner (GP) for a referral to specialist healthcare services.
  • Long-term or serious problems requiring extended follow-up: Contact your GP for further referral to the appropriate service.
  • Acute issues: Do you need help quickly or have intrusive suicidal thoughts?
    • Emergency appointment with your GP: Available on weekdays during office hours.
    • Emergency team at your local DPS (District Psychiatric Center): Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM–3:00 PM.
    • Emergency room: Evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays – call 116 117.
    • In case of immediate danger to life or health: Call 113.

What now?

When you submit an application, we assess which service best suits your needs. This could be individual counseling, but we might also recommend municipal services, or something else that better fits your situation.

Apply in person? If you don't have a norwegian social security number and a user at Helsenorge, you have to apply in person. You can fill out the application at one of our two health offices:
