Good To Know Before You Start

Treatment for anxiety involves gradually and in a controlled way confronting what causes fear, in order to gain new and better experiences. This is known as exposure therapy, a well-established and effective approach.

It's important that you're prepared to face discomfort without interrupting the situation. The reward is a sense of mastery and reduced anxiety over time.

Treatment For Needle Or Blood Phobia

How does it work?

  • The first step is a conversation with a psychologist. In this meeting, the psychologist will assess your challenges, explain how anxiety develops, and how it can be treated. Together, you'll set treatment goals and create a plan to achieve them.
  • You and your psychologist will then schedule a visit to the laboratory. The psychologist will accompany you, and you'll have the opportunity to practice tolerating uncomfortable situations in a calm and safe environment.
  • The staff at the lab are informed about your anxiety and will adjust to your goals and pace.
  • You and your psychologist will decide together if more sessions are needed.
  • You will never be asked to do anything you haven't previously agreed to, and you're free to stop at any time.
