De lagde denne dokumentarfilmen, som ble valgt som det offisielle bidraget fra Mongolia for kategorien «Beste fremmedspråklige film» til Oscar-utdelingen i 2004. Deretter ble filmen nominert til Oscar-utdelingen i 2005 for «Beste dokumentar». Skjønnheten og tristheten ligger i handlingens enkelhet: etter en vanskelig fødsel blir kamelføllet avvist av moren. Gjeterne prøver alt for å redde den lidende kamelen fra å dø. Filmen lover vakre bilder og en historie om en trist og dyp historie mellom mennesker og dyr. The two directors of this documentary, Byambasuren Davaa and Luigi Falorni, were already experienced filmmakers when they met during their studies at the Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film in Munich, Germany. They created together this documentary-style movie, which was chosen as the official submission from Mongolia for the category of “Best Foreign Language Film” for the Academy Awards of 2004. Subsequently, the movie was nominated for the Oscars in 2005 for “Best Documentary – Feature”. The beauty and the sadness lie within the simplicity of the plot: after a difficult birth, the colt, a newly born camel, is rejected by its mother. The setting is springtime in the Gobi Desert in the South of Mongolia. We watch how the shepherds do everything within their means to save the suffering colt from perishing due to the absence of motherly love and care. The film promises beautiful images and the telling of a sad story intertwining the human with the animal realm.
