Helsfyr – Valle Hovin – Ensjø – Rodeløkka
A relaxed and green ride in Oslo’s east side, filled with parks and small ponds. Start at Helsfyr Metro Station, find your way to Valle Hovin, and ride past Hovindammen and over the bike bridge at Grenseveien. Continue through Ensjø and Tiedemannsparken, then down to Økernveien between Tøyenparken and Kampen park. From there, ride up through Tøyenparken and Ola Narr. You can finish your ride at Carl Berner or take a detour to the charming wooden houses in Rodeløkka.

Tåsen – Havnabakken – Frysja – Nydalen
A route with speed, views, rivers and waterfalls. Start at Tåsen senter and bike uphill along Tåsen Terrasse to the stunning viewpoint at Havnabakken. Continue east along Carl Kjelsens vei, then take either Maridalsveien or Frysjaveien up to scenic Frysja. The ride downhill from Frysja to Nydalen along the Akerselva river is a joy. Take your time and enjoy the peaceful nature along the way. If your student budget allows, treat yourself to an ice cream on one of the benches by the river in Nydalen. This route is best with your own bike, but it's possible to do with a city bike if you plan ahead.
City bike stations - limited access:
- Tåsen senter: no station directly at the center, but nearby options include Nordberg and Ullevål Stadion
- Frysja: one station at Stillatorvet - northeast in the area
- Nydalen: multiple stations by BI and Nydalen T

Gamlebyen – Ekeberg – Nordstrand Bad – Gamlebyen
Want to climb some hills and ride along the fjord? This loop has a bit of everything. Start from Oslo gate and follow Dyvekes vei, then continue from Konows gate to Valhallveien. Stop at the viewpoint where Edvard Munch found inspiration for The Scream, then do the last stretch up to Ekeberg. From there, head down to Nordstrand Bad via Solveien. Enjoy the view and the beach. On the way back, follow the E18 bike path along Mosseveien back to Gamlebyen. Along the way, you’ll pass the sea, Ulvøybrua, Middelalderparken, and parts of the harbour promenade. A perfect ride for a sunny summer day.You can do this route entirely with a city bike, but there’s no station right at the beach, so it’s best to either ride round-trip or use your own bike.
