SiO is pleased to have welcomed the evacuated students back to Carl Berner Student House on Sunday, November 2.
We have worked closely with the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI), which has planned and supervised the securing and clean-up of the landslide area.
In the press release from Sunday, you can read more about the geotechnical criteria that had to be met before residents in Hasleveien 9 and 11 could return home. These criteria are also described in NGI’s report.
Going forward, NGI will collect additional data as a basis for further analyses that will be used to calculate and describe the next steps for the area.
Work at the site will continue and will include washing and cleaning of the remaining rock surface, applying shotcrete, and installing additional anchors. The work is expected to be completed by the end of November. The project is now entering a normal phase without night shifts. We will continue to provide information and follow up with the affected students at Carl Berner Student House on an ongoing basis.
We understand that this has been a challenging situation for the students and greatly appreciate the patience they have shown. We are very happy that everyone has now been able to return home.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
