Frydenhaug

Our kindergarten, Frydenhaug, is located in Kringsjå, right next to the subway station. We have easy access to both Sognsvann and Nordmarka. We have three departments for children aged 8 months to 3 years old, and two departments for children aged 3 to 6 years old.

At Frydenhaug, we have a large and diverse outdoor area with a bonfire spot, lavvu or traditional tent, trees, slopes, bushes, and shrubs. Nature surrounds us on all sides. This allows the children here to have ample opportunity to engage in physical activities. The children experience nature throughout the seasons and have space for wonder and exploration.

In our kindergarten, we have space and time for play, and we cherish spontaneous and self-motivated play. We focus on outdoor activities, children's participation, and independence. Our focus areas are sustainability, play, and relationships.

We have a stable staff group with high professional competence, and there are trained educators in all departments. The kindergarten also serves as a practice kindergarten for the kindergarten teacher and teacher education programs at OsloMet.

SiO kindergarten preserves the magic of childhood. Children live in the moment and must be given the opportunity to experience every day as meaningful and limitless. Play and children's wonder are our primary focus. Children can experience small moments as magical and must be given the opportunity to be spontaneous and impulsive. We want all children to feel that our kindergarten is a good and safe place to be, where everyone feels seen and appreciated for who they are, and where they can be themselves regardless of gender or background.
