You apply for a kindergarten place on Oslo Municipality's website. SiO Kindergartens have ongoing admissions throughout the year.
Everyone can apply for a kindergarten place at SiO, but students with children are given priority.On this page, you can find more information about our prices and regulations, as well as our statutes, which describe how applicants are prioritized.
We only have full-time positions, not part-time positions.
We have 11 kindergartens dedicated to children of students. This means we offer a student-adapted service with many advantages and a broader offering than standard public kindergartens. We take pride in providing a high-quality educational environment with experienced and dedicated staff—and not least in being ranked at the top by parents in user satisfaction surveys, year after year.
The children are served a hot lunch. Student parents who pay the SiO semester fee currently pay NOK 265 per month for meals. For others, the current monthly meal fee is NOK 520.We receive a varied and nutritious meal delivery from Matibox four times a week. On the remaining day, the food is prepared in the kindergarten.
We are open every weekday from 7.30 am – 5 pm. The kindergartens are closed on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. At Easter we close at 1 pm on the Wednesday before Maundy Thursday.
Unfortunately, we are not open during the summer in the 2025/2026 kindergarten year.
The invoice is sent in advance and the invoice date is no later than the last day of the month.The due date is 12 days after you receive the invoice.We will send you an SMS reminder 3 days after the due date.We will then send you a second reminder 7 days after the due date.15 days after due date the invoice will be sent to Kredinor for debt collection notice.

We offer a sibling discount for families with more than one child in a SiO kindergarten. You pay 70% of the fee for the second child and 50% of the fee for the third child (or additional children).
Our kindergartens have a two-month notice period. For the termination to be valid, it must be registered on the Oslo Municipality’s website under “Kindergarten – termination and leave.” Follow the instructions to log in and complete the termination there. Please note that the notice must be submitted before the 1st or the 15th of the month.
