Brenneriveien 11 has a unique location by Akerselva and is well suited for student accommodation. The property is close to several SiO-affiliated educational institutions such as the Academy of Architecture and Design, the Kristiania University College and the University of the Arts, as well as Athletica Vulkan. We want to build 250 student housing in a new development with business on the first and second floors. 
 
SiO's ambitions are to create a high-quality student housing project close to attractive park spaces and urban areas along the Akerselva River. We want to revitalize the urban space between Ingensteds/Blå and Vulkan, and upgrade and make Akerselva's riverfront accessible. SiO wants the area to be experienced as active, attractive and safe for the students and the city's population.

The family homes that are in Sognsveien 102 today need a significant upgrade in order to appear as a good offer for students with children. This allows for a densification and renewal of the current housing stock in Sognsveien 102. 
 
The winning proposal from A-lab in SiO's architecture competition is particularly successful in combining good utilization of the site, and at the same time playing well with topography and vegetation. The proposal harmonizes with the single-family housing development in the area next to it and preserves most of the trees on the plot because the main weight of the development is located where existing buildings are located. The building will have a public access space/square, as well as a privatized and quiet student garden with the possibility of good outside and living space for the residents.

SiO has designed new student housing in the car park in the north-west corner of the student town. This will constitute building stage three of the overall plan to densify and revitalize Kringsjå student town. 
 
We hope to be able to start construction in the second quarter of 2022. Up to 8 new buildings will be built, which will accommodate approx. 500 apartments; about. 400 one-room and approx. 100 two-room apartments. The construction period is estimated to last 3 – 4 years. The project has a target of a climate reduction of 30 per cent compared to current practice.

When we build new student housing, we work to build as green as possible. We use materials such as solid wood, energy sources such as solar cells and geothermal heat, and work to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in connection with transport, energy use and material use during the construction process..
